Shrove Tuesday PANCAKE PARTY 2026
Shrove Tuesday, also called Pancake Day, is the feast day before the Lent fast starts on Ash Wednesday. This year, it falls on Tuesday 17th February 2026. It’s an important part of the Christian calendar, but why do we eat pancakes on Shrove Tuesday?
For Christians the 40 days before Easter (called Lent) mark the time that Jesus spent fasting in the desert. Traditionally, this time was spent praying and fasting, which meant not eating a range of foods (simple eating). In the past, a ‘shriving’ bell was rung on Shrove Tuesday to call people to church to confess their sins before lent began.
This year we are having a ‘Pancake Party’ at St Thomas Church Colnbrook on 17th February shortly after school. There will be pancakes and fun activities for the children will follow. We would love you to come and join us but please sign up below so we know how many Pancakes to make and if you have any dietary requirement. Please fill in the form below for each person (adult and children) that will be attending. Thank you
