What are the Banns of Marriage?
Banns are an announcement in church of your intention to marry and a chance for anyone to put forward a reason why the marriage may not lawfully take place. Banns are an ancient legal tradition and have been read out every week in churches across the land for millions of couples, over many centuries.
Where you live makes a difference:
If you live in a different parish you need to show that you qualify to get married at our church. As well as completing the wedding application form please also complete this form so we can ensure you are eligible to get married at either St Andrew’s or St Michael’s or St Thomas’s. If you live in Colnbrook, Horton or Wraysbury but are getting married at a church elsewhere you will need your Banns read at the Parish church where you live. You can request this by completing this Banns Request online Form or by printing this Banns Application form and completing it and returning it to the parish church
